Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM)
EFM is a new technology that uses existing infrastructure (copper pairs) to deliver high speed Ethernet connectivity for businesses which have outgrown broadband but can't quite justify the cost of fibre. With speeds up to 20MB, EFM behaves like leased lines (uncontended connection and symmetrical up and download speeds) but the cost is actually more comparable with that of SDSL broadband.
With quicker lead times than fibre connectivity, a 7 hour fix SLA, no fair usage policy and fixed pricing, this has become the obvious choice for high speed data connectivity for businesses.
Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)
FTTC is part of BT’s ‘21st Century Network’ programme which provides very high speed broadband (up to 40Mb downstream and 10Mb upstream) using VDSL technology over the familiar copper analogue line.
Fibre is run from the BT exchange to the local street cabinet to reduce the length of the copper line to the customer’s premises. This helps to provide more bandwidth because broadband speed reduces the further it travels over copper wires.
HighNet has a business-class FTTC service available wherever BT has completed the necessary upgrade work to take fibre to the street cabinet.
The scale of the BT upgrade work is such that it will take until 2015 for all of the proposed exchange areas to be enabled. Please note that the availability of FTTC is not universal – it is in selected areas only, where it is cost-effective for BT to make the large investment required.
Dedicated Internet Access
With the roll out of BT 21CN, we have noticed the price of large data circuits crashing, so where high speed connectivity was previously only within the price range of large enterprise, it is now within reach for most businesses.
Businesses have been demanding more and more bandwidth, and now you can get it.
We provide private circuits from 2MB to 1GB at great prices.
MPLS IPVPN
Where traditional networking solutions tend to be expensive and complicated, our Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are easy to implement and manage.
MPLS IPVPN (don’t be scared by the acronym, it’s just the technology the VPN is based on!) provides a high quality secure network, fully managed and maintained, with a broad choice of connectivity options.
It is ideal for any multi-sited business, e.g. enterprise, public sector, retail, distribution, hotel chains, etc.
Companies who are unhappy with their current VPN speed, or need efficient service management will also benefit, as will companies who are rapidly expanding, as new sites can be added easily from network level.
- Make your IT budget go further
- Improved uptime
- Scalable – new sites can be added easily
- Unite home and office workers
- Unlimited usage
