Broadband Resilience
8th NOVEMBER 2010
Was your business affected by the recent BT broadband network outage? There is more to life than BT - as many of our customers have realised these last few weeks...
Technical Director, David Alldritt explains: “Gone are the days where BT was the be all and end all of telecoms, there are now several big players in the industry with their own networks providing what is known as LLU broadband. We have been providing customers with LLU broadband since 2008. Along with using other networks, there are many more ways to ensure your business stays connected, from broadband dongles to more sophisticated automatic failover services.”
One of our customers, Mark Drummond of TriCAD Solutions, agrees: "Having the option to use LLU broadband instead of ADSL not only reduces my costs, but also means that in the event of a major broadband outage, my connection is not affected."
We also offer other ways of making your broadband more resilient.
- Keep a dongle aside for emergencies - our mobile broadband dongles on 'Pay as you Go' are just £1.50 per month to keep active, so even when you're not using them, the cost is minimal.
- If you have several PCs which would need emergency connectivity, use our 3G compatible router into which you can plug in your dongle to get shared Internet connectivity (please note that your SMTP and IP settings would need to be re-set to access emails, however webmail would still work).
- Use our Resilient Broadband service which runs a secondary back-up circuit (LLU where possible) to ensure seamless failover in the event of an outage.
